About

Scope

The Electronic Theses and Dissertations database is the intellectual output of graduate students at the University of Arizona. The database allows for searching and browsing on all the topics. Coverage includes theses and dissertations (2005 - ) approved by the Graduate college and masters' reports (2003 -) from College of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture in the Department of Geography and Regional Development. at the University of Arizona (UA). The database is updated weekly. Motivations for this project include:

  • Collect and organize scholarship for UA's colleges and departments
  • Provide open access to UA's scholarship.
  • Preserve scholarship in digital formats to ensure long-term access

The database provides a web-based open access channel to access UA theses and dissertations for faculty, students and researchers around the world. The project started in 2005 and will be launched in February 2006. All UA's theses and dissertations (600-700 per year)will be loaded to the database to ensure long-term access and preservation. The library is a member of the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) to promote dissemination and preservation of electronic analogs to the paper/microfiche based theses and dissertations. Locally it servers the University in three ways:

  • Provides timely access (usually within a week after submission) to UA's theses and dissertations
  • Allows UA faculty and students to access theses and dissertations produced by institutions around the world through NDLTD
  • Collects and Organizes theses and dissertations for colleges and departments for long-term access and preservation.
